Technology Development
BNR

The Centre’s mix of pilot-scale facilities, real-time access to waste streams, and close linkages to researchers allows for a holistic approach to technology development. Opportunities for R&D cover a wide scope of waste management activities—from waste to energy systems to industrial process and effluent monitoring. Our services include these core areas:

Piloting

Facilities at both the Solid Waste Research & Development Facility and the Wastewater Research and Training Centre have been designed specifically for scale-up of novel technologies from bench- to pilot-scale using process streams from actual, full-scale operations.

Technology Demonstration

The Centre is able to provide convenient access to real-world operating environments for waste management equipment developers and vendors to demonstrate their products. This can include the technical data acquisition needed to verify performance and for benchmarking.

Technology Commercialization

The Centre is able to access expertise within its partner organizations to assist in developing strategies for commercialization of new waste management technologies.

Environmental Verification

The Centre is certified by ETV Canada to evaluate environmental claims of new technologies through Canada’s Environmental Technology Verification Program. Independent verification gives technology credibility and distinct market advantage.
