The Centre’s mix of pilot-scale facilities, real-time access to waste streams, and close linkages to researchers allows for a holistic approach to research. Opportunities for R&D cover a wide scope of waste management activities—from waste to energy systems to industrial process and effluent monitoring. Our services include these core areas:

Facilities
Facilities at both the Solid Waste Research & Development Facility , the Wastewater Research and Training Centre , and The Advanced Energy Research Facility, have been designed specifically for scale-up of novel technologies from bench- to pilot-scale using process streams from actual, full-scale operations.

Research Collaboration
The Centre has close linkages to researchers at the

  • University of Alberta,
  • NAIT,
  • The City of Edmonton,
  • EPCOR; and,
  • Alberta Innovates - Technology Futures.

This enables the Centre to identify and assemble powerful teams to address research needs and problems across the whole spectrum of waste management. Assistance is available in problem definition, preparation of grant applications, project management and report preparation.  Members from these organizations serve on the Research Advisory Committee.
